Each IDL and generated type mapping SHALL identify the applicable versioning and compatibility expectations.

IDL structures and generated types participate in communication exchanges that depend on compatible representations.

Recording versioning and compatibility expectations allows changes to source definitions, generated outputs, DDS Topics, and consuming implementation modules to be reviewed before they affect the Phase 0 baseline.

This requirement applies to:

• IDL structures;
• generated types;
• DDS Topic mappings;
• producing and consuming participants; and
• implementation governance records.

Verification SHALL confirm that each IDL and generated type mapping identifies applicable versioning and compatibility expectations.

Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:

• applicable versions are identifiable;
• generated types correspond to compatible IDL definitions;
• producers and consumers use compatible representations;
• related DDS Topic mappings remain compatible; and
• incompatible changes require governance review.

This requirement connects information-structure implementation mappings to the Phase 0 versioning and compatibility model.
