[[public:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:r:reference_architecture|Reference Architecture]].

The publication describes a Reference Architecture as a mechanism that:

  * Establishes a common language for diverse stakeholder communities
  * Promotes consistency in addressing recurring classes of problems
  * Supports validation and comparison of independently developed systems

FDIS-RA applies these principles to federated environments that interpret, validate, compare, and govern regulated data.

The reference does not define the specific components, interfaces, governance mechanisms, or conformance provisions of FDIS-RA. It provides the general architectural foundation upon which the FDIS-RA definition of a Reference Architecture is based.
