===== Note =====

  * A Prohibition identifies forbidden conduct rather than conduct that has occurred
  * A Prohibition may identify the Party subject to the Prohibition
  * A Prohibition may identify the Party or authority establishing the Prohibition
  * A Prohibition may identify the prohibited action, subject, object, scope, Conditions, and Effective Period
  * A Prohibition may be conditional, limited, suspended, revoked, terminated, or expired
  * A Prohibition is distinct from a [[public:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:p:permission|Permission]] because a Permission allows specified conduct while a Prohibition forbids specified conduct
  * A Prohibition is distinct from an [[public:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:o:obligation|Obligation]] because an Obligation requires specified conduct while a Prohibition forbids specified conduct
  * Violation of a Prohibition may result in a remedy, consequence, penalty, or other response
  * Absence of a recorded Permission does not establish a Prohibition
  * Absence of a recorded Prohibition does not establish a Permission
  * Recording a Prohibition does not, by itself, determine that the Prohibition exists or is legally enforceable

===== Example =====

An Agreement prohibits a Party from disclosing confidential information to another Party except when an applicable Permission allows the disclosure.

The Prohibition identifies the Party, prohibited disclosure, protected information, applicable Conditions, exceptions, and period during which the Prohibition applies.
