Annex B: Terms and Definitions

Go to Annexes

This annex identifies the terms used by the Structured Information Processing Reference Architecture (SIP-RA).

The controlling definitions are maintained in the shared Dido Solutions Terms and Definitions corpus. The definitions displayed in this annex are transcluded from their controlling term pages and are not independently maintained copies.

identifiable digital work product created, acquired, used, modified, generated, exchanged, delivered, or preserved during an activity

recognized right or power of an Actor to direct actions, make decisions, grant permissions, approve outcomes, or impose obligations within a defined scope

information values processed, exchanged, stored, observed, or reviewed by a financial system

a Model that represents selected Data elements, Structures, relationships, Constraints, and associated meaning for a defined purpose

specific business or semantic area within an Ecosystem

an arrangement in which independently governed participants cooperate under agreed relationships while retaining authority over their own Systems, Resources, policies, and internal operations

system of authority, responsibility, decision making, and control used to direct and oversee an identified subject

a defined boundary through which participants interact or exchange Data, commands, events, services, or Resources

application of semantic context, rules, calculations, classifications, models, or reasoning to data

authority recognized by an applicable Governance arrangement to determine or clarify the meaning, applicability, or intended effect of governed information within a defined scope

ability of independently implemented Qualified Nodes and Qualified Service Providers to exchange, interpret, and use governed information according to shared models and interfaces

organizational or sovereign authority boundary within which structural or semantic control is retained

*a representation of selected function, structure, behavior, or meaning of a subject for a defined purpose*

*an architectural approach that separates system functionality from implementation technology through models and mappings*

managed combination of infrastructure, software, services, interfaces, policies, controls, and operational capabilities that supports the execution, deployment, or management of applications and workloads

model of a system that is independent of the features of any specific technological platform

model of a system that specifies the use of features of a specific technological platform

statement of direction, rule, or constraint established by an Authority to guide or control decisions and actions

conceptual and logical architectural framework that establishes common language, architectural responsibilities, and alignment guidance for a recurring class of systems without prescribing a specific implementation

quality permitting equivalent results

meaning of a designation, expression, model element, data item, rule, or statement within a defined context

formal organization and constraint model governing a class of data

a set of interacting elements organized to achieve one or more stated purposes within a defined environment and boundary

quality permitting relationships to be followed

representation of a subject that presents selected information to address specified stakeholder concerns in accordance with one or more Viewpoints

specification of stakeholder concerns and the conventions governing the construction, interpretation, evaluation, and use of Views intended to address those concerns

an organized collection of designations and associated meanings used to identify and communicate concepts within a defined context

Add a term when it is defined, specialized, or used with a meaning important to understanding SIP-RA.

Maintain terms alphabetically under their initial-letter headings.

Each entry links to the complete controlling term page and transcludes only its Definition section.

Do not reproduce or independently revise a shared definition in this annex. Revise the controlling term page when a definition requires correction.

A red link or missing transcluded section indicates that the controlling term page or its Definition heading needs to be created or corrected.
