5.1.4 Reuse
Reuse promotes compatibility with the existing standards ecosystem and avoids duplicating established models and capabilities.

GPR-007 — Reuse of Existing Standards: The Submission SHALL reuse applicable existing OMG and other recognized standards rather than define new models that provide equivalent capabilities
Notes for Editors
GPR-007 is a mandatory requirement.
The qualification “applicable” avoids requiring a standard that does not satisfy the architectural need. The term “equivalent capabilities” is more objectively assessable than “similar functionality.”
When no applicable existing standard provides the required capability, the Submission may define a new model but should identify the standards considered and explain the unmet need.
GPR-007 establishes the general obligation to reuse applicable standards. SIP-026 preserves existing OMG specifications, SIP-034 preserves existing transport and exchange constructs, and SIP-038 prohibits duplicating existing information-exchange, Interoperability, and semantic-federation capabilities.
After the Annex C record is created and reviewed, replace the locally maintained Statement with a transclusion of its authoritative Statement.
