11.9 Traceability Preserves Layering

Go to Top

Traceability connects conceptual elements, logical elements, implementation artefacts, deployment artefacts, and Evidence. It allows reviewers to understand how a concern moves through the document set without allowing later layers to redefine earlier layers.

A logical element traces to a conceptual element. An implementation artefact traces to a logical element. A deployment artefact traces to an implementation artefact. Evidence traces to the claim, behaviour, artefact, or condition it supports.
