Data Management
Discussion
Data Management coordinates the governed activities used to control Data throughout the portion of its lifecycle for which an organization or system is responsible.
Data Management may govern identification, Classification, Structure, Semantics, validation, access, Integrity, Version, retention, disposition, transfer, transformation, Provenance, and Traceability. The applicable Requirements, Policies, Constraints, Baselines, profiles, and decisions of an Authority determine which activities and controls apply.
Data Management remains distinct from Data Processing. Data Processing performs operations upon Data. Data Management governs how Data and those operations are identified, controlled, recorded, and evaluated.
Definition
coordinated activities to direct and control the handling of data throughout its applicable lifecycle

Dido Solutions, Inc. and Jackrabbit Consulting, Inc., derived for DIDO-TE and informed by ISO/IEC 11179 metadata principles, ISO/IEC 25012 data-quality concepts, and the data-lifecycle concept in NIST SP 800-188
Note
The applicable lifecycle may begin before Data enters DIDO-TE and may continue after DIDO-TE transfers or releases the Data. Data Management identifies the part of that lifecycle governed by the applicable Authority.
Data Management does not imply that one system owns, stores, or controls every copy of the Data. Responsibilities may be distributed among systems, organizations, Nodes, and Communities of Interest.
Example
DIDO-TE manages Test Input data by identifying its Classification, Structure, Semantics, Version, permitted access, retention period, Provenance, and relationship to the Test Execution that consumes it.
