7.1 Overview

The Logical Communication Model defines how Logical Nodes exchange information through explicit Logical Communication Endpoints.

This model specialises the Part 1 concept of Communication Endpoint into platform-independent logical communication structures and roles. It describes who participates in an exchange, what information the exchange carries, which Runtime Plane the exchange supports, and what Traceability or Evidence expectations apply.

The Logical Communication Model does not prescribe one communication technology or interaction style. Implementation profiles select mechanisms such as DDS, REST, RPC, Protocol Buffers, message queues, event streams, file exchange, shared services, or other mechanisms to realise logical communication.

Figure 7-1 summarises the primary relationships in the Logical Communication Model.
