P1-REQ-13-4-004

A Node Role SHALL identify a responsibility performed by a Node.

Part 1, Section 13.4: Core Conceptual Element Requirements.

A Node Role identifies the responsibility that a Node performs in the architecture. Separating Node Role from Node Identity allows the architecture to describe responsibilities independently from the specific Nodes that perform them.

This requirement supports role assignment, role reuse, accountability, and logical refinement without collapsing responsibility into identity or implementation form.

This requirement applies to Node Role definitions and references within the Conceptual Architecture.

It applies specifically to:

  • Node responsibilities
  • Role assignment
  • Role reuse
  • Responsibility descriptions
  • Node-role relationships

Verification SHALL confirm that each Node Role identifies a responsibility performed by a Node.

Verification activities include review checks confirming that:

  • Node Role describes a responsibility
  • Node Role remains distinct from Node Identity
  • Node Role remains distinct from implementation artifacts
  • Node descriptions identify responsibilities through Node Roles
