A semantic artefact identifies a governed construct that defines the meaning associated with structural elements or data values.

Semantic artefacts support consistent interpretation by defining the meaning that applies to structures, data values, relationships, classifications, lifecycle states, policies, or governed information exchanges.

A semantic artefact differs from a structural artefact. A structural artifact defines organization and constraints. A semantic artefact defines the meaning associated with the structural elements or data values governed by the reference_architecture.
