NOD-011e — Retain Preserved Node State
Statement
The DIDO-TE SHALL retain each preserved representation of Node state for the period specified by the governing Test Definition.
Derived From
-
[DTE5] DIDO-TE Requirements Register, source requirement identifier and obligation to be assigned
Rationale
Retention preserves the availability and usability of a verified Node-state representation for the period established by the governing Test Definition.
The retention period may derive from a specified duration, lifecycle event, completion of a Test Execution, resolution of an exception, acceptance of Test Results, expiration of an Evidence obligation, authorization decision, or other identified condition.
Retention includes continued protection, identification, integrity verification, accessibility, compatibility, and Traceability. Moving or copying the representation does not interrupt the retention obligation.
The DIDO-TE preserves the context required to interpret the representation throughout retention. This context includes the Node identity, preservation point, Node Definition, Node Implementation, Node Configuration, Test Environment, Test Execution, capture method, and verification status.
Premature loss, deletion, corruption, inaccessibility, or loss of context may prevent reconstruction, comparison, restoration, evaluation of Test Results, or production of Evidence.
Applies To
Verification
Verification confirms that:
-
The governing Test Definition specifies the retention period for each preserved Node-state representation.
-
The governing Test Definition identifies the event or condition that begins the retention period.
-
The governing Test Definition identifies the event, condition, or authorization that ends the retention period.
-
The DIDO-TE uniquely identifies each retained representation.
-
The DIDO-TE retains the representation throughout the specified retention period.
-
The DIDO-TE preserves the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the representation throughout retention.
-
The DIDO-TE preserves the representation’s association with the Node, preservation point, Node Definition, Node Implementation, Node Configuration, Test Environment, and Test Execution.
-
The DIDO-TE preserves the capture and verification status of the representation.
-
The DIDO-TE maintains the compatibility and usability required for each specified purpose.
-
The DIDO-TE verifies the representation at the intervals or events specified by the governing Test Definition.
-
The DIDO-TE preserves retention when the representation changes storage location, format, medium, or custody.
-
The DIDO-TE detects loss, corruption, alteration, substitution, inaccessibility, incompatibility, or loss of context.
-
The DIDO-TE prevents unauthorized or premature deletion or disposal.
-
The DIDO-TE identifies each extension or reduction of the retention period and the authority approving the change.
-
The DIDO-TE preserves the prior retention requirement when a change produces a distinguishable revision.
-
The DIDO-TE maintains Traceability among the representation, preservation specification, retention period, retention events, protection controls, verification results, Test Executions, Test Results, and resulting Evidence.
-
Missing, incomplete, interrupted, unauthorized, prematurely ended, or untraceable retention constitutes nonconformance with this requirement.
