1.4.1.4 Standards Applicability and Coordination

Return to 1.4.1 In Scope

The Reference Architecture considers how relevant standards, specifications, models, and governed semantic resources relate to the architectural components and interfaces defined by FDIS-RA.

Relevant resources include:

  • Standard Business Report Model (SBRM)
  • SysML v2
  • The DIDO-local Semantic Business Vocabulary Model (SBVM)
  • OMG Commons Ontology Library
  • Domain ontologies, including the Financial Industry Business Ontology (FIBO)
  • Related OMG and non-OMG specifications

The Reference Architecture evaluates each resource according to its architectural role, including semantic definition, architectural modelling, representation, validation, exchange, or execution. It does not treat the selection of a particular standard, specification, language, or tool as sufficient evidence of architectural conformance.

FDIS-RA identifies where each resource operates within the architectural structure and how multiple resources participate without duplicating responsibilities, introducing conflicts, or creating unintended semantic coupling. This treatment distinguishes standards and specifications that define governed meaning from languages, models, and technologies that represent or realise that meaning.

The Reference Architecture does not assign universal semantic authority to a single standard or specification. The authority applicable to a particular interpretation derives from the governing jurisdiction, reporting regime, adopted semantic baseline, applicable version, and declared interpretive context.

FDIS-RA provides a governance-oriented framework for applying, comparing, coordinating, versioning, and evolving standards and related resources while preserving architectural separation of concerns, traceability of authority, and long-term interpretive stability.
