Discussion

An Interoperability Criterion establishes a measurable condition for evaluating an interaction between identified entities.

An Interoperability Criterion may specify:

The governing Interoperability Criteria may originate from a Requirement, Policy, Constraint, profile, Baseline, Interface Contract, or designated Authority.

Definition

measurable condition used to determine whether an interaction between entities satisfies a specified interoperability requirement

Source

Dido Solutions, Inc. and Jackrabbit Consulting, Inc., derived from the interoperability concepts in ISO/IEC 25010:2023

Note

An Interoperability Criterion states the condition used for evaluation. It does not state the observed result of the interaction or the conclusion produced by applying the criterion.

An Interoperability Criterion may govern the exchange of information, the use of information exchanged, or both.

When governing Interoperability Criteria conflict, DIDO-TE records and surfaces the conflict without inventing precedence. The appropriate Community of Interest or designated Authority resolves the conflict.

Example

A requirement that two Nodes exchange Test Results conforming to a specified Interface Contract establishes Interoperability Criteria for the interaction, exchanged Structure, Semantics, and required responses.
