A Submission that incorporates metadata specifications SHOULD provide a machine-readable OMG XML Metadata Interchange (XMI) representation of each applicable metadata model.
Recommended when applicable
This requirement applies when a Submission incorporates one or more metadata specifications containing models for which an XMI representation can be provided.
Machine-readable XMI representations support standardized model interchange, automated processing, independent evaluation, and use with tools that implement the OMG model-management infrastructure.
Providing an XMI representation allows evaluators and implementers to process the metadata model without reconstructing it from diagrams, tables, or narrative descriptions.
A Submission satisfying this recommendation demonstrates that:
This requirement is recommended when applicable because it uses SHOULD.
This requirement does not require a Submission to introduce a metadata specification when none is otherwise needed.
GPR-001 remains mandatory when a metadata model is expressed using an OMG modeling language and falls within that requirement's applicability. GPR-024 specifically addresses metadata models and preserves the recommended level established by this evaluation criterion.
Before publication, confirm the terminology and applicability of this requirement against the current OMG RFP boilerplate and the applicable XMI specification [XMI].
