17.4 Implementation Compatibility

Go To Phase 0 Implementation Governance

Phase 0 implementation compatibility identifies whether implementation artifacts work together without loss of logical meaning, traceability, communication compatibility, generated-type compatibility, QoS compatibility, or reviewability.

Implementation compatibility applies to:

  1. DDS Topic definitions
  2. Publisher and subscriber expectations
  3. IDL structures
  4. Generated types
  5. QoS profiles
  6. Implementation node modules
  7. Configuration files
  8. Scripts
  9. Logging conventions
  10. Exception-handling conventions
  11. Traceability metadata
  12. Developer Handbook rules

A Phase 0 implementation artifact is compatible only when it realizes the intended logical element, uses the expected representation, follows the applicable version and naming conventions, and preserves the required traceability relationships.

Compatibility failures require review before affected artifacts enter or remain in the Phase 0 implementation baseline.
