Discussion

A Request for Proposal (RFP) is an OMG adoption-process document. An RFP requests OMG members to submit proposals for a specification to an OMG Technology Committee. The RFP identifies the scope, requirements, submission instructions, intellectual property terms, evaluation criteria, and timetable for the requested proposals.

In the SIP-RA context, the RFP requests proposals for a Structured Information Processing Reference Architecture specification.

Definition

*a document requesting OMG members to submit proposals to an OMG Technology Committee*

OMG process terminology.

Note

An RFP differs from a Request for Information (RFI). An RFP seeks proposals for possible adoption as an OMG specification. An RFI seeks information about a technology area and does not itself request a specification submission for adoption.

Example

The Structured Information Processing Reference Architecture (SIP-RA) Request for Proposal requests OMG members to submit proposals for a SIP-RA specification.
