An Organization is an identifiable body of people and resources structured to pursue defined purposes and exercise assigned responsibilities.

An Organization can be:

• A commercial enterprise
• A government body
• A regulatory body
• A standards organization
• An academic institution
• A nonprofit organization
• A consortium
• A program
• A project
• An organizational unit
• Another identifiable body with defined purposes and responsibilities

An Organization can identify:

• Its identity
• Its name
• Its description
• Its purposes
• Its responsibilities
• Its authority
• Its organizational units
• Its applicable Users
• Its applicable Roles
• Its applicable Communities of Interest
• Its applicable Governance Domains
• Its owned resources
• Its operated resources
• Its applicable Policies
• Its applicable Governance Policies
• Its Provenance
• Its Traceability

An Organization can own, operate, administer, authorize, govern, provide, or use DIDO-TE resources.

An Organization can contain other Organizations or organizational units.

An Organization differs from a Community of Interest:

• An Organization has an identifiable organizational identity, purposes, structure, and responsibilities
• A Community of Interest groups participants that share an interest, purpose, mission, or information need

A Community of Interest can include participants from multiple Organizations.

An Organization differs from a User:

• An Organization is an identifiable organizational body
• A User interacts with or uses a system, service, or resource to achieve a purpose

An Organization can act as a User when it interacts with or uses a system through an authorized representative, process, or system.

An Organization differs from a Role:

• An Organization identifies a body with defined purposes and responsibilities
• A Role identifies a set of responsibilities, permissions, and expected behaviors assignable to an actor

An Organization can assign Roles to its Users, systems, organizational units, or other authorized actors.

An Organization does not need to own every resource it uses. An Organization can use resources supplied or operated by another Organization under an applicable agreement or Governance Policy.

An Organization owns a DIDO-TE deployment and establishes the Governance Policies governing its use.

The Organization assigns:

• The Test Administrator Role to Users who configure Test Environments
• The Test Operator Role to Users who initiate Test Runs
• The Evaluator Role to Users who review Test Results
• The Approval Authority Role to Users who make Validation Decisions

The Organization can also participate in a Community of Interest with other Organizations that share testing and validation objectives.
