Logical Control Plane

Return to L Terms

Discussion

The Logical Control Plane supports operational coordination among Logical Nodes.

Logical Control Plane interactions include registration, capability advertisement, command exchange, command acknowledgement, configuration coordination, schema and model version coordination, retry coordination, recovery coordination, replay coordination, and operational state management.

The Logical Control Plane coordinates how Logical Nodes operate. It does not carry domain truth as its primary purpose. The Logical Data Plane carries domain and analytical information. The Logical Control Plane manages operational behavior, coordination, and control relationships.

Definition

Logical Runtime Plane supporting operational coordination among Logical Nodes.

Source

Specialization of Control Plane from Part 1, Section 8.2; generalised from control-plane material in the original FX Demo Reference Architecture.

Note

The Logical Control Plane is not a DDS Domain, DDS Topic, DDS partition, REST control API, RPC service, orchestration mechanism, configuration file, Kubernetes namespace, or deployment environment.

Example

A logical control interaction issues a report-status command to a Logical Node and receives a command acknowledgement with the Node’s current lifecycle state.
