Discussion

The Foreign Exchange Domain identifies the business and semantic area concerned with currency exchange and related financial obligations.

The Foreign Exchange Domain includes structured information related to FX transactions, currency pairs, counterparties, trade lifecycle states, contractual obligations, settlement, cash-flow projection, validation, attestation, policy-governed release, audit, provenance, and oversight.

The FX Demo Logical Profile uses the Foreign Exchange Domain as its domain classification. Later implementation and deployment profiles inherit this classification when they implement or deploy the FX Demo. They do not redefine it.

Definition

Domain within the Monetary Ecosystem covering currency exchange and related financial obligations

Source

Adapted from the original FX Demo Reference Architecture (RA) and from the Archetype Classification Model defined in Section 5; generalised for the Financial Systems Archetype conceptual layer.

Note

The Foreign Exchange Domain is not the FX Demo itself, a DDS Domain, a deployment environment, a runtime plane, a topic namespace, or a repository structure.

Example

An FX forward trade lifecycle profile belongs to the Foreign Exchange Domain.
