The DIDO-TE SHALL establish each Virtual Network specified by the governing Test Definition.
Distributed testing may require communication relationships that are independent of the physical network supporting the participating entities.
A Virtual Network provides the network representation through which those communication relationships can subsequently be defined and exercised.
Establishing the Virtual Network is distinct from defining its Network Topology, connecting participating Nodes, or configuring its Communication Characteristics. Those obligations are governed by separate NET requirements.
The governing Test Definition determines whether a Virtual Network is required for the test and identifies the Virtual Network to be established.
This requirement does not prescribe the technology used to realize the Virtual Network.
Verification confirms that:
Verification includes a Test Definition that identifies a Virtual Network and confirms that the identified Virtual Network exists before its network topology, participating Nodes, or Communication Characteristics are exercised during Test Execution.
This requirement establishes the Virtual Network required for a distributed Test Environment.
Subsequent NET requirements define the Network Topology, connect participating Nodes, configure Communication Characteristics, reproduce Degraded Communication Conditions, and support participation by Real-World or geographically distributed Nodes.
