====== Interoperability Criterion ====== Go to Terms and Definitions ===== Discussion ===== An Interoperability Criterion establishes a measurable condition for evaluating an interaction between identified entities. An Interoperability Criterion may specify: * A required Interface Contract * A required exchange Structure * Required Semantics * A required interaction sequence * A required response * A permitted error condition * A required error-handling behavior * A condition for using exchanged information The governing Interoperability Criteria may originate from a Requirement, Policy, Constraint, profile, Baseline, Interface Contract, or designated Authority. ===== Definition ===== //measurable condition used to determine whether an interaction between entities satisfies a specified interoperability requirement// ===== Source ===== Dido Solutions, Inc. and Jackrabbit Consulting, Inc., derived from the interoperability concepts in ISO/IEC 25010:2023 ===== Note ===== An Interoperability Criterion states the condition used for evaluation. It does not state the observed result of the interaction or the conclusion produced by applying the criterion. An Interoperability Criterion may govern the exchange of information, the use of information exchanged, or both. When governing Interoperability Criteria conflict, DIDO-TE records and surfaces the conflict without inventing precedence. The appropriate Community of Interest or designated Authority resolves the conflict. ===== Example ===== A requirement that two Nodes exchange Test Results conforming to a specified Interface Contract establishes Interoperability Criteria for the interaction, exchanged Structure, Semantics, and required responses. ---- © 2026 Dido Solutions, Inc. and Jackrabbit Consulting, Inc.
