===== Statement =====

The architectural model SHALL identify integration points with information-exchange and [[public:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:s:semantic|semantic]]-[[public:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:f:federation|Federation]] frameworks while remaining independent of any specific transport, exchange, or modeling standard.

===== Rationale =====

Explicit integration points allow the proposed Reference Architecture to use existing and future information-exchange and semantic-Federation frameworks without incorporating a particular framework into the architecture itself.

Technology-neutral integration points support portability, reuse, evolution, and the use of different standards in different operational, jurisdictional, or security contexts.

===== Evaluation Criteria =====

A conforming Submission demonstrates that:

  - Integration points with information-exchange frameworks are identified
  - Integration points with semantic-Federation frameworks are identified
  - The responsibilities and information associated with each integration point are described
  - Required interactions are expressed independently of a specific implementation technology
  - More than one transport, exchange, or modeling standard can realize the integration points
  - Conformance does not require a particular vendor product or tooling environment
  - Technology-specific mappings can be defined without altering the platform-independent architectural model
