====== GPR-004 — PIM-to-PSM Normative Authority ====== Go to Annex C: Requirements ===== Statement ===== A Submission that specifies a Platform Independent Model (PIM) and one or more corresponding Platform Specific Models (PSMs) SHALL identify whether the mapping rules or the resulting PSMs govern resolution of inconsistencies between them. ===== Requirement Level ===== Mandatory when applicable ===== Applicability ===== This requirement applies when a Submission specifies both: - A PIM - One or more corresponding PSMs derived from or related to that PIM ===== Rationale ===== A mapping and its resulting PSM may become inconsistent because of modeling errors, manual modifications, incomplete transformations, or changes made after the transformation occurred. Identifying which artifact has normative Authority provides an explicit basis for resolving such inconsistencies. Without this designation, evaluators and implementers may reach different conclusions about which model or mapping governs. ===== Evaluation Criteria ===== A conforming Submission to which this requirement applies demonstrates that: - The applicable PIM is identified - Each corresponding PSM is identified - The mapping rules governing each PIM-to-PSM relationship are identified - The normative status of the mapping rules is stated - The normative status of each resulting PSM is stated - The controlling artifact for resolving an inconsistency is identified - Any precedence rules are explicitly defined - The treatment of manually modified PSMs is described - The treatment of deviations from the mapping rules is described - Resolution decisions can be preserved with provenance and traceability ===== Referenced By ===== ===== Notes for Editors ===== This requirement does not apply when a Submission specifies only a PIM and does not include corresponding PSMs. A Submission may assign normative Authority to the mapping rules, the resulting PSMs, or different artifacts under explicitly defined conditions. It must provide an unambiguous rule for resolving inconsistencies.
