The Logical Architecture / PIM does not prescribe a communication technology.

An Implementation Profile / PSM selects communication mechanisms to realize [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:l:logical_communication_endpoint|Logical Communication Endpoints]] and logical interaction patterns. Those mechanisms include, for example, DDS, REST, RPC, Protocol Buffers-based services, message queues, event streams, file exchange, shared services, or other communication approaches.

The selected communication mechanism realizes the logical endpoint. It does not redefine the [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:l:logical_communication_endpoint|Logical Communication Endpoint]], [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:c:communication_role|Communication Role]], Logical Runtime Plane, or logical interaction pattern.
