===== Rationale =====

Communication Roles describe the manner in which Logical Nodes participate in logical exchanges. Separating participation from the endpoint itself provides a reusable and technology-independent means of modeling communication relationships while supporting multiple interaction patterns and architectural specialisations.

===== Applies To =====

This requirement applies to the Logical Communication Model.

It applies specifically to:

  * Communication Roles;
  * Logical Nodes;
  * Logical Communication Endpoints; and
  * Logical Interaction Patterns.

===== Verification =====

Verification SHALL confirm that each Communication Role identifies how a Logical Node participates in a Logical Communication Endpoint.

Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:

  * Communication Roles are explicitly associated with Logical Nodes;
  * Communication Roles define participation in Logical Communication Endpoints;
  * participation remains platform independent; and
  * Communication Roles support the Logical Interaction Patterns defined by the architecture.

This requirement supports traceability between Logical Nodes, Communication Roles, Logical Communication Endpoints, and Logical Interaction Patterns.
