Infrastructure Deployment is the controlled process of realizing an [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:i:infrastructure_definition|Infrastructure Definition]] within a selected [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:t:target_environment|Target Environment]].

The process may create, configure, connect, verify, update, and remove compute, storage, networking, identity, security, monitoring, and related infrastructure resources.

Infrastructure Deployment translates provider-independent or provider-neutral intent into the mechanisms supported by the selected [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:i:infrastructure_provider|Infrastructure Provider]].

Within Crucible, a [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:p:provider_plugin|Provider Plugin]] and associated automation perform the provider-specific operations required to realize the selected [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:i:infrastructure_baseline|Infrastructure Baseline]].

Infrastructure Deployment differs from infrastructure definition. The definition specifies the intended infrastructure, while the deployment process creates or changes the realized resources.

Infrastructure Deployment may include pre-deployment validation, post-deployment verification, configuration, and teardown activities.

Crucible realizes an Infrastructure Definition by creating virtual networks, compute instances, storage resources, security rules, and a load balancer in an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure environment.
