A Hybrid-Cloud Deployment is an [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:i:infrastructure_deployment|Infrastructure Deployment]] that deploys related subjects across an identified combination of cloud and non-cloud [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:i:infrastructure_environment|Infrastructure Environments]].

The participating Infrastructure Environments may include:

  * A public-cloud environment
  * A private-cloud environment
  * An on-premises environment
  * An [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:e:edge_environment|Edge Environment]]
  * A provider-managed environment
  * A privately operated environment

The deployment subjects may include:

  * [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:i:infrastructure_resource|Infrastructure Resources]]
  * [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:v:virtual_machine|Virtual Machines]]
  * [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:k:kubernetes_cluster|Kubernetes Clusters]]
  * [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:c:containerized_workload|Containerized Workloads]]
  * [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:p:platform_service|Platform Services]]

A Hybrid-Cloud Deployment differs from a multi-cloud deployment:

  * A Hybrid-Cloud Deployment combines cloud and non-cloud Infrastructure Environments
  * A multi-cloud deployment uses Infrastructure Environments supplied through more than one cloud provider

A deployment may be both hybrid-cloud and multi-cloud.

  * The participating cloud provider
  * The type of non-cloud environment
  * The network relationship among environments
  * The placement of deployment subjects
  * The identity or security model
  * The synchronization mechanism
  * The operational authority for each environment

The applicable deployment specification defines those details.

Crucible performs a Hybrid-Cloud Deployment by deploying a Kubernetes Cluster and Platform Services to a cloud Infrastructure Environment while deploying a Containerized Workload to an on-premises Infrastructure Environment.
