The [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:d:dido-te|DIDO-TE]] SHALL select a [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:t:twin_realization|Twin Realization]] associated with the specified [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:t:twin_identity|Twin Identity]] in accordance with the governing [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:c:configuration|Configuration]].

===== Rationale =====

A [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:t:twin_identity|Twin Identity]] may have more than one associated [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:t:twin_realization|Twin Realization]], including virtual and physical or real-world realizations.

Selection determines which associated Twin Realization participates in an applicable test or operational activity without changing the logical Twin Identity represented by that realization.

The applicable [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:c:configuration|Configuration]] provides the governed basis for selection. Selection therefore remains distinct from discovery, availability, communication matching, or other implementation-specific mechanisms.

Selecting one Twin Realization does not remove, replace, or redefine other Twin Realizations associated with the same Twin Identity.

Verification confirms that:

  - The selected Twin Realization is associated with the applicable Twin Identity.
  - The selected Twin Realization is identifiable by its Twin Realization Identifier.
  - Selection follows the applicable Configuration.
  - A Twin Realization not associated with the applicable Twin Identity is excluded from selection.
  - Selection of one Twin Realization does not change the Twin Identity or Twin Identifier.
  - Selection of one Twin Realization does not remove or alter other Twin Realizations associated with the same Twin Identity.
  - The selected Twin Realization can be determined from the applicable Configuration and selection conditions.

Verification includes a Twin Identity with at least two associated Twin Realizations and demonstrates selection of the applicable realization without changing the Twin Identity.
