[[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:d:dido-te|DIDO-TE]] SHALL perform testing operations in a [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:c:connected_environment|Connected Environment]] using permitted external network connections and services.

===== Rationale =====

A Connected Environment provides access to permitted external networks and services during testing operations.

Connected Environment operation permits DIDO-TE to obtain approved testing artifacts, dependencies, configurations, test data, policies, and updates through authorized network connections. It also permits DIDO-TE to interact with approved external services required by a test.

External connectivity introduces dependencies and risks that affect test execution and interpretation. DIDO-TE records the external network connections and services used during each test execution so that the resulting [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:e:evidence|Evidence]] preserves [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:t:traceability|Traceability]] to the relevant operating conditions.

Connected Environment operation does not imply unrestricted network access. Applicable security, authorization, configuration, monitoring, and evidence controls govern each permitted connection and external service.
